Hunterian Museum

A Journey Through the History of Surgery

The Hunterian Museum at the Royal College of Surgeons, is the home to England’s largest public display of human anatomy alongside surgical instruments, equipment, models, paintings and archive material.

Background

Brief

Whistlejacket were tasked with designing a self-led booklet for students during their museum visits, to guide them through the various rooms and ask them questions regarding the plethora of artefacts on display.

Solution

Our process began by establishing a layout and grid system for the A4 brochure. We then designed a custom museum map to guide visitors through the rooms and highlight displays along the route. Additionally, the brochure served as a self-guided worksheet for students, so we developed a layout that introduced key rooms and provided designated space on each page for students to answer questions.
